At this time we should be in the air flying to Whitehorse about to embark on a holiday of a lifetime.
A sad day for all of us.
We hope and pray for Nature Tours of Yukon that you will survive this pandemic and enjoy success in the year ahead.
Who knows if we stay healthy and fit plus the pandemic goes we may make it to take a trip with you.
Take care, God bless
Lynne and Rob Brooks
This is the story of the last stampeders, back in July 2019 , grouped by the great Nature Tours of Yukon.
Let me introduce the characters:
- Robert, an even-tempered guide, and mighty cook
- Opie, a well-mannered dog, being the only one who must not bring the bear spray with himself
- Sharon, a mighty walker, able to carry tons of weight on her shoulders, but with an unexpected sweetness inside
- Jennifer & Mladen, able to imagine the sun where others complain about a sky full of rainy black clouds
- Dario the Italian guy, chasing his dream to feel a Jack London’s experience
- Josi, the very heart of Nature Tours, ready to cheer everyone up, occasionally bus driver
- The Bears, black and grey, always present but never seen, apart into a Ranger’s movie who scares everyone
- The Mosquitoes, mysteriously appeared at the first Canadian camp and evaporated at the next camp, closed for security due to the bears sighting
Chilkoot Trail, a legendary journey without the hope of finding gold at the end, 5 days walking through the rain forest under the clouds, up toward the hard pass, down among the sweet lakes, with a final amazing flight on a tiny red plane afloat in the water
What we will take with us:
Indeed, we are made of the same material of which dreams are made ( as told Shakespeare….. )
(Chilkoot Trail. July 2019)
As my daughter and I bid a truly sad farewell to the mighty and magnificent Yukon, we are eager to let you know that absolutely everything went smoothly and met our every expectation these past several days...
Glenn was an awesome and generous guide, driver and fellow participant in every way throughout this adventure of ours and his openness, kindness and various courtesies, as well as sharing his own Yukon experiences full of many educational and enriching facts - truly added a great deal to the experience and made the whole journey a warm, friendly, safe and relaxed one from start to finish.
In short, we “got our money’s worth and have come away with epic and fulfilling forever memories in our hearts.
With best regards and appreciation,
Marie-Claire L./ Jozephine C.

Hi Josi & Svenja
Well since we've been back almost a week now, I thought I'd send an email to follow up.
We wanted to send a note regarding our guide Derek. He was such a joy! We actually all really missed him when we had to say goodbye to him, I think it was harder on us than it was on him, haha. He was very informative, very kind, sweet, laidback and just overall a great person. We joked about how we wish we could adopt him into our family.
In terms of tour, the views of the Dempster Highway to the Arctic Circle were my favourite. The mountains, the landscape was just unreal. I've never seen anything like it. Eagle Plains and Dawson City was so INTERESTING to me! Unfortunately we didn't get to see the Northern Lights as it was very cloudy but I guess we'll just have to come back sometime.
Thank you again all for all your help!
All the best,
(Arctic Circle Fall Safari, August 19, 2019)
Josi and Nature Tours of Yukon were fantastic. Very personable and caring service.
Nature Tours of Yukon is a very reliable and caring tour service. Josi and team are very personable, easy to work with and so very helpful and willing to make your Yukon experience a treasure. Highly recommend them. They are not 'big box'. They truly care.

Northern lights chasing tour- Amazing
We did the 2 night Northern lights Xmas chasing tour from Whitehorse and the accommodation selected by the Company was spot on. Also, all the hire Gear was in the hotel as promised. Yes, we saw the Northern lights but Stephen our driver really had to work hard to find them as we had cloud cover. He drove North, then West then South. But it was worth it as they were spectacular and something we will never forget. Got to walk on a frozen lake as well.
Well done Nature Tours and highly recommended.

Friday July13 2018: This is our last day on the trail: 11 km to Bennett- We had lunch at the most beautiful camp-site I have ever seen, - Bare Loon Lake-. The last 5 km I took in as much as impressions as I could, because sadly this is the last stretch of this amazing Chilkoot adventure. At Bennett Lake we were picked up by float plane and flew back (with a small detour to see some mountain sheep) to Whitehorse.
I would like to thank my fellow hikers, Sonja, John, Michelle, Roger, Brenda, Melanie for making this a trip of a lifetime.
Special thanks to Nature Tours of Yukon’s guide Robert (and his trusty side-kick, Opie the dog). He took very good care of us every day with good advice and -to my amazement- every day a different breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Last but not least I’d like to thank Josi and Joost at Nature Tours of Yukon for their pre-trip advice, their patience with all my questions and the excellent way they have organized everything, so I was able to check this once-in-a-lifetime experience off my bucket-list.
With a big grin on my face and a brain full of memories;
greetings and thanks,
John Vincent | Netherlands
Hallo Josi und Joost,
Der Urlaub ist vorueber. Was bleibt sind schoene Erinnerungen.

We had a wonderful time at all the tours. There's not a bad thing I have to say. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.
Johanie, our driver/tour guide was a lovely young lady whose company was more than welcomed by us. She was understanding, flexible, compromising, not at all pushy, friendly, caring, always smiling - I can go on. She let us choose our food and drinks. We wish her the very best in all her future endeavours.
The weather cooperated so much with us.
We are in Dawson City. Visited Top of the Midnight Dome last night. It is so cold and windy here. Today we go to Tombstone Park.
I appreciate all that Nature Tours Yukon did for us.
Sincerely and kindest regards,
As someone in a wheelchair it is not easy to travel to places such as the Yukon. I was able to experience magical moments under the Northern Lights, travel through wonderful National Parks and meet great people. I will definitely come back, because the proverb is true: YUKON «larger than life». Thanks to the team of Nature Tours of Yukon for organizing a very special vacation.
Markus Böni, Switzerland
We just got back from Dawson City on our trip with Raphael. We all can't tell you enough about how great everything has been. The places we went on our explorations has been fantastic. Our accommodations 's have been great, meals supplied are excellent. We will definitely refer others to your company.
All of us want to let you and Joost know what a great employee you have in Raphael. He has served us beautiful lunches, ushered us like royalty to any place our heart desired and thought of interesting places and beautiful scenery for us to see. He pointed us to great restaurants and of course bars that we would enjoy. Even in the evening he would end up close by to make sure we were ok. I can't express enough how great he has been.
Thanks again and hopefully we will be back for further adventures.

Hi Joost and Conny:
The trip was indeed great, better than I had expected. We spent 9 days in the river and were lucky to have a nice weather during the whole trip. As a photo-addict, I got many shoots. Our tour guide, Glen, was an interesting and considerable person. My wife and I had no experience in padding this far distance, but he made my wife and I almost cross-legged in the trip. We enjoyed the trip a lot and would recommend it.

Hello folks at Nature Tours Yukon. Thought you might like to see that we put Whitehorse in the New Orleans Times Picayune in today's Sunday Travel section of the newspaper.
We really enjoyed our trip Nov 16-22 and your guides were just great!!
A very Merry Christmas to all of you. To celebrate the year that has just passed i have attached a video of our Yukon adventure together - Karen and I want to thank each of you for making our Yukon trip such a great memory! A few highlights of the adventure include:
. the turtles dancing around Quinton made us laugh when we remembered him telling us of his dream where he had relations with a turtle
. Vanessa at the front of the pack playing dirty word association games: the added dirty word vocabulary has been awesome when driving around town yelling at other drivers - we are never at a loss for what to say
. a plane ride overlooking the mountains
. the cold water dip
. suspension bridges, and
. yummy food
Thank you guys!!!! and all the best for 2016!!!

I am back at work at the hospital and have more heart surgeries lined up than I can count. I look back on our recent experience and find solace. I am so appreciative of your work and service. I can't say enough great things about Robert, our guide...please say hello for me. I am looking towards next summer......Do you have other backpack trips the Bailey Clan can tackle? We would want Robert and our only request would be smiles all around. Please talk to Joost and see what might work.
Thank you again,
Steve Bailey (Scotty, Vince, Logan).

Hi Joost and Conny,
We want to thank you very much for the great tour we had up the Dempster last month with Lisa! Nature Tours of Yukon rocks!! Every planning detail was covered, and our trip from start to finish was excellent and worry-free. As we have said, you think of everything - even the Northern Lights appearing on our last night in Inuvik! Thanks, Conny - we knew you'd be able to arrange it for us!!!
We can't say enough good things about Lisa!! Her driving ability, her knowledge of the area, her commentary, her advice - all were excellent. She is a true ambassador of your company, and a really nice person.
The fall colours were a little disappointing (but that wasn't under your control); and now that we're processing our photos we can see some colour showing up on the drive from Eagle Plains to Inuvik. Obviously, we will have to visit the Yukon again - once just wasn't enough!!
It was a pleasure to meet you and your staff, and we wish you all the best in the future. We will certainly be recommending your Company to our friends and photo club.
Val and Roger Langley
We really enjoyed our trip and were so lucky with all the wildlife that we saw. It was originally supposed to be a once in lifetime trip but I think that the Yukon has got into my blood and I’m already starting to think about the next one…..!
Hope to see you next time.
Gladys & Gordon Garlough wish to offer their compliments to Nature Tours of Yukon - Joost, Connie .. especially (guide) Vanessa S. for a great road trip on the Dempster Hwy and the associated experiences in Dawson City, Eagle Plains, Inuvik and Tuktoyuktuk.
We had looked for (our words) a guided road tour on Dempster Highway for some time.
On seeing a "Brewster Vacations Canada" item in a local (Ont) travel agency, we followed up online and finally came to booking 'The Arctic Explorer' with Nature Tours of Yukon.
The experience could not have been better !
1. Vanessa S. was our driver & guide - Knowledge, enthusiasm, people skills, flexibility .... she had IT!!
2. Accommodations & food were great. The Aurora Inn (Dawson City, 2 nights) was an 'home' to be remembered!!!
3. Eagle Plains : The "Inn" was the only available hotel but it was more than adequate.!
4. Inuvik : Mackenzie Hotel was great, especially when you consider the location / latitude
and the person at the local tourist centre was a real asset!!
5. A visit to Tuktoyuktuk; the flight gave a great view of Mackenzie Delta (and associated 'Pingoes')
the tour of "Tuk", an Inuit home and the village 'food freezer' deep in the permafrost were all highlights.
Our special thanks go to Vanessa for her time with us!
Sincere Thanks! Gladys Garlough, Gordon Garlough (Williamsburg ON)
Hi over there, hope you all are well !
After a travel of around 30 hours I got home still with a smile
on my face - this Chilkoot excursion was one of
the best things I did in my life!
Thanks to all of you.
Christian - the slowest hiker ever.
Ganz liebe Grüsse Albrecht und Monika from Switzerland
Dear Joost, Conny & the team at Nature Tours of Yukon,
Thank you very much for sharing the beauty of Yukon with us and for another amazing experience and memories we will treasure always.
From Dan & Maria Steffen :-)
Hi Joost, Connie and Karin!
Just a quick note to say thank you so very much for the days I spent with you all...it felt like leave family when I said goodbye to Joost at the Airport! Really enjoyed my time in Whitehorse and Skagway/Carcross because you took me under your wing which was a lovely thing to do.
Take care and have fun
Tracey -New Zealand
Great trip up the Dempster. September was definitely the time to go. Colours and scenery were stunning. Joost was a terrifc guide who looked after everything. I'll definitely recommend him and Nature Tours of Yukon to everyone I know who is thinking of going to the Yukon.
Hi Joost and Connie:
That was an amazing trip and still seems like a dream. I was looking through some of my pictures and the book I had on the Chilkoot Trail and still don’t believe I did that! It was harder than I expected but we made it out and survived all in one piece! Just nursing a little sore back; after a few yoga classes I’ll be as good as new!
Thank you for helping us organize our trip! It takes a lot of pressure off us pulling things together when we started considering doing the Chilkoot Trail. Hopefully we will come back and explore some other activities the Yukon has to offer through Nature Tours of the Yukon!
Sandie and Brian
Ard (SALT Magazine)
I have finally arrived back home and wanted to quickly thank you for all of your patience and thoroughness in planning out the Chilkoot hike.
Christine Page – Ontario
I just wanted to thank Nature Tours for the outstanding trip over the Chilkoot Trail. Every aspect of the adventure; from your web site, to registration, to logistics, to simple things like returning phone and email queries was handled with professionalism and efficiency.
Bob Barnes – Calgary
Lieber Joost !
I really enjoyed the extreme cold, even though people back here in FL think I'm nuts! :-) I'm so glad the snow was still on the trees & everywhere else when I was there!
Martha Spencer, Fort Lauderdale, Florida
Again, thank you very much for your efforts which had made our stay in Whitehorse a pleasant and unforgettable experience.....! Whitehorse is really a wonderland and we really had a great time there although the staying was short and for sure we will go back again someday for summer activities. ...we love Whitehorse very much and the natural sceneries are very impressive.....the northern lights, wild animals and your way of living.....
Evelyn Chan, Taipei, Taiwan
Thanks again for a great trip. Keep in touch. If budget and time allows we will be back
Shirley Garvel, Elgin, Texas
Hoi Joost & Conny,
Many thanks for everything you have done to make our honeymoon run so smoothly. we have had a lovely time both on and off the river.
with thanks and fond memories,
Martin & Adele, Herefort UK
